John is a science fiction writer born in Brooklyn, NY the year NASA was created. As a child, his surrogate parents were Robert Heinlein and Andre Norton (as he grew up, they morphed into James Tiptree, Jr. and Thomas Pynchon.)

Last time I redesigned this site — just a year ago — it went from crufty early-90s tables to dhtml menus and CSS. In a frighteningly short time, the Web has moved on, and even this was looking a bit long of tooth. (It also broke Firefox in spectacular fashion. Sigh.) Now, to facilitate on-the-fly updating, I've moved to a content management system leveraging the open source stack (Apache, MySQL, and php) and the awesome Drupal.

Hey, it ain't an IT project if you don't say "leveraging" somewhere. :)
