Inside the writer's brain.
It's that time of year again: The Portsmouth Democratic Town Committee's annual clambake will be Sunday, September 7 at the Portuguese American Citizens Club across from St. Anthony's.
Everyone is welcome at this afternoon of delicious food and good friends. Kicks off at 1 pm with all-you-can-eat homemade chowder and clam cakes, accompanied by the lure of great bargains (and fun) during the auction sponsored by the Democratic Women’s Club (We got a cheap month of Karate lessons at Ernies for Jack last year, and he's now a yellow belt!)
Then the main event: a traditional New England Clambake of fresh clams, fish, chourico, sausage, hot dogs, sweet potato, onions, potato, and corn on the cob is served fresh off the fire at 3 pm. Yes, that's a picture over there on the left of a truckload of steaming goodness coming out of the bake.

| Last year's clambake attendees included Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts, Attorney General Patrick Lynch, State Rep Ray Gallison, and Former Council President Maryann Edwards. |
Tickets for the day are $30 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Tickets at the door may be limited, so get yours early to avoid disappointment — you can pick them up at the PA Club, Allen’s Wine and Spirits, Ferreira’s Package Store, or by calling our own State Senator Chuck Levesque at 847-2510. Proceeds from the event go to the Portsmouth Democratic Town Committee.
A fun afternoon of good eats, great (Democratic) conversation, and all the sights and sounds of a down-home New England bake. Hope to see you there!
