More than 125 people turned out at the Providence fundraiser last night for Tom Sgouros, Democratic candidate for RI general treasurer, according to multiple posts on Facebook from organizers and supporters. You don't have to know a ton about state politics to figure out that's a whole bunch of people for a non-gubernatorial candidate a year before the election. More detail in a post that just went up on RIFuture. Yay, Tom.

An e-mail from Matt Jerzyk, one of the organizers, also noted many city and state elected officials were in attendance, and announced a new feature on Sgouros's web site where you can endorse his candidacy. (And, of course, with the end-of-year coming up, if you want to make a donation, you can do it at his site or through ActBlue.) Have some time to volunteer? You can do that too.

Full disclosure: harddeadlines has endorsed Sgouros and I have donated to his campaign. I would have been there last night, but we just got back from visiting relatives for the holidays.
